چکیده
Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) ranks first for head and neck malignancies, radiotherapyis a recommended treatment. Most post-radiotherapy NPC patients experience oropharyngeal dysphagia thatresults in pharyngeal residue. Pharyngeal residue is thought to be risk factor aspiration-penetration.Objective: Examining the correlation between penetration-aspiration postradiotherapy patients.Method: Participants have been identified since 2018 find out total number of patients. Inthe period January-October 2019, identification was performed according participantcriteria. were examined fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation swallowing (FEES), pharyngealresidue using Yale Residue Severity Rating Scale (YPR-SRS), penetration-aspirationusing Penetration-Aspiration (PAS). Statistical tests used Spearman test with p<0.05.Results: The highest participant’s appeared vallecula when given soft bolus (96.55%),and pyriform sinus thick liquid (72.41%). participants had thehighest negative penetration (72.59%) positive (51.72%), while mosthad aspirations lowest value (89.66%). There aspiration 10.34% whengiven dilute liquid. significant andpyriform (p<0.05). association use softbolus (r=0.623), (r=0.631), (r=0.891).Conclusions: inpost-radiotherapy

Impedance Analysis Using High-resolution Impedance Manometry Facilitates Assessment of Pharyngeal Residue in Patients With Oropharyngeal Dysphagia
BACKGROUND/AIMS Impedance analysis using high-resolution impedance manometry (HRIM) enables the recognition of pharyngeal residue in patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia. The aims of this study were to evaluate appropriate criteria for impedance analysis in a large patient cohort, as well as the diagnostic accuracy and agreement of analysis performed by HRIM trainees. METHODS We reviewed 33 ...
متن کاملCervical oesophagostomy in patients with severe dysphagia following radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to investigate the validity and feasibility of cervical oesophagostomy as a treatment for patients with severe dysphagia after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. METHODS The study retrospectively analysed the clinical data, symptoms, physical signs, treatment and outcomes of 12 patients treated with cervical oesophagostomy for severe dysphagia after radiothe...
متن کاملEffects of sensory and oral- motor exercises on oropharyngeal dysphagia in patients with multiple sclerosis
Introduction: Swallowing disorders are commonly observed in more than one-third of patients with multiple sclerosis. Dysphagia in these patients, decreases quality of life and increases a risk of dehydration and aspiration pneumonia. These complications are a common cause of death and morbidity in late multiple sclerosis. The aim of this research was to examine the effects of thermal-tactile s...
